Tunisia textile technology center report shows that on 23 of this month, the first 10 months of this year, textile clothing import and export trade of Tunisia keep growing in total, but in October, the textile and clothing export ha a slow down situation. The report shows that in October of this year, Tunisia textile clothing exports was around 441 million dinars, it has dropped 3.45% year by year, it includes that, textile exports fell 0.45% and clothing exports fell 3.95%. In the clothing exports, the knitting class clothing exports has dropped 3.26% year-on-year, and the garment exports fell by 4.21%, exports amount has fallen 14.39% in total, in addition to Italy, Holland and Spain, all of the clothing export trading partners of Tunisia has fallen down as well.
In October of this year, Tunisia’s textile clothing imports still maintained the growth of 5.97%, in total, it equals to 359 million dinars, the textile fiber imports growth 45.4%, and the imports have risen 44.1%, the reason was mainly due to the China textile fiber import and India textile fiber import had a sharp increase, Italy and Turkey’s imports are also keep rising, and the jean imports have risen 6.36%, and the imports fell by 14.6%, in addition, the exports from Turkey and China up by 54.71% and 94.09% respectively, and the imports from Turkey and China up by 20.16% and 17.58% respectively.
Textile clothing industry is one of the important pillar industry of the economy, the output value accounts for about 37% of the national total industrial output, and export accounts for about 36% of the national industrial products export, labor accounts for about 40% of the national industrial employment.
